You know those Taylor Swift songs. I’ve been listening to those two songs a lot besides her whole discography. Since Speak Now, I’ve been relating to a lot of her music lately. Again. The vault songs especially. I wish she would finally release You’re Losing Me as a single, so I don’t have to go to YouTube for the full song. Sometimes I lie in bed just thinking about those songs and some guy I’ve known back home in New York. When Taylor dropped folklore and evermore in 2020, it felt like my inner child released my diary from junior high school when I made up little fairy tales. When Taylor dropped Midnights, it felt like she was reading my diary at the age of 30. I’m 31 while typing this. Taylor is two years older than me, so I get it. I get loving the fact that she gets to own 3 out of 6. I think everyone should listen to Midnights on repeat until you get it. folklore and evermore were great eras because everyone seemed to get the ideas she was putting out. Your homework for the rest of the summer is keep listening to Midnights until you get it.
So, I wrote a letter to myself titled Dear Young Samantha:
You have made it to 2024. You are dating that baseball player and you’re seeing Taylor Swift together. You’re getting paid to write book reviews. You’re basically getting paid to read books. Oh, and that baseball player you’re dating he’s loyal and respects you. You can trust him. After all, you are dating Tanner Thomas/Jackson Olson/Dalton Maudlin. I am so proud of you. You are going to travel to see New Orleans and Paris. You are going to do great things and make everyone happy and proud of you. Keep holding on and keep on doing the work. You’re going to get everything you ever wanted and dreamed of. You are worthy of it all.
It's always good to write yourself a letter to the past or future to ensure everything is going to be okay. I did it as a manifestation to let younger me know that she's going to get everything she's ever wanted. Do the same and watch everything fall into place as you start to believe all the good that can happen.
